dry run

I’m reliving my porridge days again. Yes I’ve finally gotten my lower brace and it is hurting me. (No prizes if you managed to guess what colour I chose correctly) I feel as though my whole mouth is on fire. What, with wires poking at the walls of my mouth everywhere and cheek cells that are hooked onto the anchors of the brace, its terrible. Not to mention that I have develop a gigantic ulcer on my lower lip. And pieces of food stuck everywhere in the mouth. Kudos to those who have survived their “metal” days. I’m trying hard to survive right now. Hopefully I’ll get used to it soon. I cant live without food. Proper food. Not that porridge aint proper. But having too much of it will kill my love for it.

So right now, I’m eating my lunch (yes porridge) as I’m typing this. As my brother is down with chicken pox, I have the whole steamed egg to myself. Hiak Hiak. Well, he can have the whole plate of steamed meat. I’m not fighting with him for it. See, I’m kind. I share. One plate each.

As my cousin is off for a holiday in China, or to be exact, Hainan Island, I have two nights free from tuition. And I feel good! I mean, I could finally have dinner at 8ish and not 9ish or 10ish. And dinner at 8ish means its hot. Dinner at 9ish and 10ish means its cold. It seems like I can never stop talking about food.

Ok, I went to the mph book sale with sher last Friday. Check this out!

I got very good bargains! In fact, I bought all six of them at only $39! That’s like 6 plus per book. Judging from the fact that one book is usually $20 or so, I saved more than $80! I was so happy despite having to lug the heavy things back home. And I made a promise to myself that I’m not going to buy anymore books for the next say 3 months or so. Unless it’s a very good book, or its during a sale.

I’ve been very hardworking! I finally finished watching sher’s vcds. Or rather, the Korean dramas that she lent me. I still got some movies to go and I’ll be finally done! I think it’s about time that I start to get things in perspective instead of lying around doing nothing. For a start, I finally accepted the NUS thingy, a little tad late I know. Now I don’t have to think anymore about where I should go since I’ve already done the inevitable. I’m going out later to get a better passport size photo taken. Sigh, I hope it’ll turn out nice since its going to be on my student pass. –makes a mental note to help the poor brother buy his lotion for his chicken pox on the way

Tansy’s ending her job on Thursday! That means she got more time for me! Yippies!

Of little cousins and songs

Sometimes, I feel as though I act too much like a man. Instead of being nice and patient over my little cousin’s minute problem of not being able to find a song that she like, I was way too practical and harsh.

“I also cannot help you. What you want me to do?”

Or maybe you would be like me too. If your little cousins only bug you just to ask you to find songs for them. And every time your messenger window shows her face, it’s “Jie. Can help me find song?” It doesn’t help when the songs that she listens to are not the kind that I like. I don’t stand to gain.

I told you I’m a man.

the old people

Did I mention that I was so smart that I spoiled my room door so now it locks automatically whenever I close it? And no, I cant unlock it either. So nobody can open my door now whenever I close it and I got a good excuse for why I’m locking myself in the room – The door is spoilt!

Actually my brother’s room door is like that as well. Or rather, was like that as well. His door had this “auto-lock syndrome” for a few years before it reverts itself back to normal recently. Speaking of my brother, he dint go to work for four days last week (took 3 days urgent leave and 1 day mc for dental) and spend the whole time at home with me, whining about why he dint fall sick like me despite eating the same food as me and staying in the same house for four days 24/7. So now he got what he wants. He’s at home again, in his bed because he had a bad flu. Hohoho.

Outing with tansy last Saturday! Goodness! We, the old folks decided to venture into town after lightyears of not going there. Can you imagine? I went town! Ok, that was kind of exaggerating but I think I hadn’t been there for like 1 year plus? That’s how bad it is. I mean, all we ever hang out was at Chinatown, bugis and maybe sometimes, marina square. We are the lok kok flip flops heartland pple. Anw, I blew half of my tuition pay (from two kids) there (somebody tell me it’s the excitement of going town again) while tansy only spend like 30 buckeroos. Everytime like that one lor! I always spend more than her. I know why, she wants to wait until she goes out with her mum so she can get her mum to get the stuffs for her. The day ended with melon ice cream that we dripped all over the place as we walked from cine to somerset. Ok, I dripped. And I flicked melted ice cream onto her hand as well (I rock). Hmms.. Right now, I’m just gonna scrimp for so that I can “man zai er gui” when I go for mph book sale at expo with smelly sher in two weeks time. –grins

Off to watch vcds!

pass the tissue please

Its late afternoon and I’m at home listening to James Morrison’s You Give Me Something. Its raining now and I’m all wrapped up in the old PL jacket. I have my MJ mug and a tissue box beside me because I need to drink more water and blow my nose and I thought it would be nice if everything is within my reach. With the PL jacket and the MJ mug, you would think that I must miss school. Well in actual fact, I do miss school, a little teeny weeny bit.

I’m really sick of being ill. I’ve finished the medicine that the doctor prescribed and I have nothing else to keep me going except the panadols stored at home. Nontheless, I think I should visit the doctor again if I don’t get better by this Friday. That would only mean spending more money, sigh.

Everything has been in a mess since the last day I ended work and I hadn’t got a chance to put it right. Mainly because I spend the whole day in bed ( ok i spend half the day going for tuitions), blowing my nose and littering the floor with tissues. My storybooks are all over the place, I have no idea where I chucked my uni letters and I seriously think I look like crap. And when you think you look like crap, the last thing you want is to be recognized by some juniors at the bus stop and that was exactly what happened to me just now.

Ill, from the sick perspective

I know I’m falling ill a little too often. And yes, I’m ill again (I shall refrain from using the word sick. According to chrissy, sick is a mental condition). I had a shock on Tuesday when my temperature rose to 38degrees. I don’t get fever often you see. So when it went down on Wednesday, I dint really give it much thought anymore. But the problem is, I dint know my thermometer was spoilt. I think I dropped it too often. So when I thought my temp went down, it didn’t at all. It was still 38 degrees. After much nagging from my mum and R, I finally decided to pay the doctor a visit.

To think that I went to a clinic, not the polyclinic mind you, and I still have to wait for 2 hours. So I was sitting there, sniffing real hard and feeling like shit for 2 hours before it was finally my turn. I was ushered out after less than 5 minutes in the doctor’s room. Then, I continue to wait to get my medicine. Ah, life is a waiting game.

I don’t like to visit doctors. Not because I’m afraid of them or because I’m afraid of taking medicines. I don’t like to visit them because I’ll be stuck in an area full of ill people that look so gloomy and sad that I’ll be feeling even more gloomy and sad. I know I cant expect people to look real happy and cheerful when they are not feeling well but yeah, you get my point. And not only am I stuck in an area full of gloomy and sad people, I’m stuck in an area full of germs. I know I contribute to the germs floating there too but I just don’t like it! And then I have to wait. And wait. And wait and wait and wait. I feel like a selfish asshole but heck. But the worst part is not all of those mentioned above. The main reason why I don’t like to visit doctors, or in this case, don’t want to visit doctors is because my mum dint give me money to see one despite nagging at me to go visit the doctor. So today, 32 buckeroos flew away from my wallet. I can eat Katong Chicken Rice EIGHT times with that money! EIGHT TIMES! Get it?

Right now, I’m mentally awake and physically tired. I just cant bring myself to sleep again after sleeping the whole day. Ok I did do something constructive, like pulling myself out of bed to tuition, looking all grey and gloomy. I had tuition in my “oh, so sexy” voice and I felt like killing my cousin half the time. Restless kid plus ill tutor equals horrible tuition. I actually wanted to cancel tuition since my doctor ordered me to have ample rest but sigh, his exam is taking place next week so I practically have no choice at all. Such a good soul I am. LOL.

And because I was ill, I pangseh-ed sher on weds and tansy today. Felt so bad lar! Sher even called me today and asked me to go out but I aint able to make it. ARGH!

Contract ended last Friday so I spent most of my days at home=) Pure bliss. Stayed in bed most of the time due to lack of energy but I did some reading. Happy cans! It used to be only work and tuition. Now I have time for more things such as reading! Lets see, R bought me two books and I still have 3 books that I have not read so…that means I have lots of reading to do! I can foresee constructive time spent at home!

Received both NTU and NUS letters already. Both schools start in August. That means, I gotta find a job again. Anybody have any lobang to offer, contact me ok!

I have no idea when that time is no longer measured by minutes, hours, days, weeks or months.
Its measured by when I’m going to be able to see R again.

A typical day

Had tuition with Sweedy’s bro today. It feels weird going over to her place not to find her but for a different purpose instead. Lucky was looking for food when I reached, and was still looking for food when I left. You see, he thought I have food on my hand but I do not, so I ended up having his saliva all over my palm. Which I kindly wiped it on his fur. Uh huh.

I came online to search for something and am supposed to go offline to do my stuff. I ended up staying longer than I’m supposed to. This means, I have to leave stuffs that I have to do to tomorrow again. I’m such a procrastinator. Its so bad that I cant stand it myself. Oh wells, tuition tmr is postponed to thurs as tmr’s granny’s death anni so I have to be at Big Uncle’s house for dinner. This means I can be home a little tad earlier to do those stuffs. Hopefully I’m disciplined enough to actually sit in front of the table and get started.

Weather’s horrible.
I’m trying hard not to fall sick. I think I better turn in soon.

4 more days till 27th!

In The Mind

Its all in the mind.

Ever since I stopped playing netball competitively, I feel myself growing weak. Not only physically, but mentally as well. Or was it the environment? I’ve got no idea. Somehow I feel that challenges posed to me are no longer as challenging. Or too challenging that I cant be bothered to give a damn. I give up easily and I lose my strength. I lost my discipline and perseverance. I’m on the path to trying to find it all back again but it’s a daunting task. Why is it so difficult to gain but so easy to lose? I’ve to keep reminding myself that everything is in the mind. I believe that if I keep tell myself that I can do something, I’ll be able to do it. Like, turning up for work everyday despite knowing it sucks to the core ( I’m really proud of myself, I haven take leave for two weeks!) Speaking of work, one more week and I’m a free being. Angela’s jealous. I can’t believe I’ve work at that company for almost three months already. Time passed so quickly that I’ve lost track of it.

I’ve been feeling really lazy lately. I’ve not been preparing for tuition, helping with the housework and stuff. Upon reaching home, I’ll eat, bath, talk on the phone, tv, sleep. Tadah! Its amazing that I aint bored leaving such a routine lifestyle. Probably because I’m hard on cash these days. Arh money money. Its just like food. I have a love hate relationship with the both of them. Ok I digressed. I was on the topic of laziness. Yes. It all sums up to one thing. GY is lacking in discipline and sheer mind power. Sigh.

I just mention to tansy I want to buy a street directory, bus guide whtever. Pocket version. So I can carry it with me all over the place and hunt down on good and cheap food. Such a good idea don’t you think? By the way, while I’m working on how to be more diligent, can someone please remind me to exercise? Just send me a msg now and then that says, “I bet you can’t wake up this Sunday morning to go running. HAHA.” And I’ll be up and about on Sunday morning showing to you that I CAN.

PS: I need sarcasm in order to function sometimes.
