Southern Ridges

I am burnt. Again. Just when I thought I was about to 'recover' from the ugly tan lines that I've got due to the cycling trip (long ago), I've got to go get myself awful marks on my shoulders again. I dint think that I'll get sunkissed so I only apply my regular dosage of sunblock on my face.

It seems like I'm starting 2009 exploring Singapore. Today, I went trekking with my brother. Ok trekking might not be the right word but I cant think of any other more appropriate ones. We went to the Southern Ridges. And, we completed the bloody nine km trial. Let me repeat. We completed the bloody NINE km trail. Now 9km may sound like nothing. Come on, its even lesser than a regular marathon. But,here's the catch. This 9km includes almost a gazillion steps/stairs and slopes. Uphill. I almost dieded I tell you. All in all, we took around 3 to 4 hours completing the whole thing (we were quite fast cus we weren't camwhoring, too tired from the climbing) and spend around an hour or more at the quaint museum at the end of the trail. To let you know roughly how far I've walked, I started at Vivocity and landed somewhere near Science Park, which is fairly near NUS.

Anybody interested can check out this website:

So here's a picture of me at HortPark. We dint do much exploring there, but I think we saw all that we wanted to see. I wont be posting my brother's picture here albeit he'll probably kill me if I do.

I dont think I'll be doing this again anytime soon. I might try it again some time after. Its a pretty memorable thing to do.

I guess these days, I'm just trying to spend the last week of my holidays doing stuff that are more constructive.

red

is the colour of roses.
Of cherries and apples,
of steamed crabs and lobsters.

It is also the colour of delicious tuna sashimi,
beautiful maple leaves
and the Kaihalulu Beach in Maui.

Red is now the colour of my arm,
of CM's arm
and ah tan's nose as well=))

This is the result of going cycling at noon. When the sun is the strongest, beating us with its powerful rays. I havent been so red for a very long time. Even though I'm burning right now, I feel happy. Maybe its the Vitamin D, or maybe it has been a beautiful day at the beach.

On a side note, you can never trust the weather forecast from NEA.

unfit.

I went running today.

I finally got about to doing it. After not running, or jogging for close to a year, I felt that I needed the adrenaline rush again. I had visions of me completing say 10 rounds around the park. It would be long and slow considering how long I was off from exercising. But I can tell you, I failed terribly.

I only managed to do 5 rounds and it was a torture.

I was disappointed with myself but I guess I really needed to stop. I think I was just looking for something when I'm not yet fit for it. I've forgotton that running is a process, and to achieve that adrenaline rush, it takes time, determination and endurance. It was just kind of difficult for me to get this idea into my head cus I kind of take my fitness for granted. I mean after playing a sport and training actively it for the last 8 years, I didnt think that I would 'degenerate' till this rate.

I told my brother about it when I got home and he laughed at me. Frankly speaking, even though he finished 10km last year, I doubt he can do any better than me now. Hees.
